What TV shows were forbidden in your JW household?

in the u.s., three's company was not allowed.

it was explained to me that it was an immoral show because a man and women lived together and no one was married.

the sister who gave this observation was a family friend and we were newbies to the religion.. at least i somehow managed to watch the benny hill show undetected..

Yesterday I answered a similar question on Quora.com.

After stating that they usually don't answer honestly anyway, this is what I wrote:

The questions are aimed at gaining some insight into their minds and motives.
Please tell me which current and former JW teachings you disagree with, and why?
Can you explain how you know for sure that you personally are chosen by God to lead His people under Christ, and other people are not?
How do you feel about the fact that many people suffer(ed) severely from poverty, depression, all sorts of abuse, and even died because of current and abandoned JW policies (on blood, organ transplants, neutrality, shunning, child abuse, spousal violence, education, etc) that you and other men like you have enforced?

From the answers it should become clear that this person is either
100% certified KoolAid drinker (and dispenser). Sorry, can't help those.
Struggling with or ignoring doubts just like any other regular JW. Maybe we can help him out.
Knows it's a scam (and is still in because he's a coward or an @55hole). Well then I do have an axe to grind!

Do you still believe in God?

i never thought i would admit it, but i don't.

i might superstitiously have some kind of doubt but digging a bit deeper in my heart i really don't believe in god.

as a human i could never just sit and watch people be tortured, live years of abuse, suffer from illness and disabilities and all the other awful things people have to endure day after day without doing something about it.

if we see God is quite separate from religions, rather than see Him as part of the problem

Almost all of humanity worships some sort of god(s), mainly as prescribed by the religion(s) in their area of birth.

Assuming your God exists, She is part of the problem by not making it abundantly clear that everyone is doing it wrong by following religions that lead away from Her.

Since demons are basically just angels with a bad attitude, I think the theological debating of 'how many angels can dance on the head of a pin' might give valuable clues...
